Dr. Reza Nassiri

Dr. Reza Nassiri Dr. Reza Nassiri, D.Sc., FACCP is currently the Director and a professor of Clinical Pharmacology at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also is a professor of Medical Virology and a lecturer in both Hematology and Public Health. Dr. Nassiri holds many administrative positions at LECOM including Director of International Affairs (Erie and Bradenton campuses), Chair for the Department of International Studies, Director of Biomedical Sciences (Post-Baccalaureate program), Director of Mini-Medical School program, and the Director of HIV/AIDS Educational Program (Post-Baccalaureate program).

There are also many organizations outside of LECOM in which Dr. Nassiri is very involved. He has membership to a number of professional organizations including the Global Health Alliance, International AIDS Society, Infectious Diseases Society of North America, the American Society for Microbiology, and the International Society of Antiviral Research. Dr. Nassiri is also a member of the Senior Editorial Board for several medical journals such as the Medical Science Monitor, Case Reviews & Clinical Practice, HIV/AIDS Reviews, the International Journal of Hematology, and the Journal of AIDS.

Dr. Nassiri has been very active in a number of other professional and scholastic activities at LECOM, in the community and at an international level. He is continuously sending osteopathic students abroad to demonstrate Osteopathic Manipulative Maneuvers and to introduce the American model of osteopathic medicine. Dr. Nassiri was also the founder of both LECOM CARES humanitarian project and the LECOM International Medicine Club. His work in the community involves serving as a consultant in HIV/AIDS for the Erie County Department of Health, Erie, Pennsylvania and Advisory Member, PA Dept. of Health. On an international level, Dr. Nassiri has delivered presentations on osteopathic education and research in numerous countries, authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in medicine, and has been a consultant to the World Health Organization on HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Nassiri's work on HIV/AIDS (research and education) is recognized internationally. He has given lectures on HIV/AIDS all over the world. He has been the recipient of numerous professional, scholastic, and teaching awards both nationally and internationally. These awards include an Honorary Doctor of Medicine by the Medical Academy of Lublin in Poland in 1999. He also received an Honorary Professor of Infectious Diseases from both the Medical Academy of Lublin in Poland and the University of Bologna Medical Center in Italy.
